The SI Joint: Keeping Your Low Back Happy

There is an epidemic of low back pain in our society. Part of this stems from sacro-iliac instability due to glute/hip weakness. The SI Joint is a joint of stability not mobility. It is crucial to keep the muscles surrounding the SI Joint strong and mobile. We will work to build strength in this class and also troubleshoot some traditional yoga poses that can wreak havoc on the SI when they are not practiced thoughtfully.

An Afternoon of Deep Rest and Restore

Join Rachel for a special Deep Rest and Restore Mini-Retreat. Through mindful breathing techniques and slow, intentional movement, you'll activate the body's natural relaxation response, helping to shift from a state of stress to one of calm and ease. Build an understanding of how you can use your yoga practice and simple breath work to regulate your nervous system.
This mini-retreat includes gentle somatic movement, yin and restorative yoga, and breathing practices - all infused in the magic of crystal singing bowls. More info and registration coming soon!
Restorative Yoga with Zen Shiatsu Bodywork
with Tara Rachel
Friday, February 27, 6:30-8pm, $40
Relax and Restore your Qi (“Chee”) with a calming and supportive sequence based in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). The whole class will be on your back supported by props as Tara Rachel gives each student a sampling of Zen Shiatsu Bodywork. The class is limited to 6 students so you can each experience Zen Shiatsu.
Tara Rachel is a certified Asian Body Work Therapist and has been studying and practicing this method since the late 1990's.
